Mediterranean inspired garden with layered planting and outdoor seating

PRIVATE GARDEN

Mediterranean Garden

My own garden has developed into a relaxed, richly planted space influenced by Mediterranean gardens.

Architectural foliage, silvery leaves, grasses, flowering perennials and small trees are layered together to create texture, movement and seasonal change. The planting surrounds the seating areas, giving the garden an immersive quality while still leaving space to sit, pause and enjoy it.

THE GARDEN

A garden that continues to evolve

The garden has developed gradually, with the planting changing and becoming more established over time.

Drought-tolerant and wildlife-friendly plants sit alongside more colourful summer planting, creating contrasts in foliage, colour and form throughout the season.

Rather than reaching a single finished point, the garden continues to change as plants mature, spread and respond to one another. This ongoing development is part of what I enjoy most about it.

Layers of foliage, texture and colour

Strong architectural plants provide structure, while grasses and softer perennials weave between them.

Silver and grey-green foliage bring a Mediterranean character to the garden, balanced by brighter summer flowers and larger leaves that create areas of contrast and drama.

The result is a garden that feels abundant and informal, with different plants taking the focus as the seasons change.
